About Lovegoodness Soap
From Political Healers Founding Mother Michaela Lovegood, Lovegoodness Soap is a social enterprise that supports healthy bodies, healthy spirits and the work of Political Healers.
I assumed the surname Lovegood because I felt that the surname system was far too patriarchal and wanted a name that reflected my life’s intention, NOT my patrilineage. So Lovegood became my surname and my mission in life - to love good (or to love well, for the grammatically correct). Turns out, loving well -- either yourself, or others, or loving Source -- isn’t always easy. Love doesn’t always look the way you expect it to, or turn out the way you were told it was supposed to. Sometimes loving ourselves or others, or Source WELL is complicated.
As the Political Healers Project has grown, as more people want to define, distinguish and develop their feminine leadership, something has become clearer: what makes loving well so complicated is that there are SO many different expressions of love, so many different degrees of love, and differing experiences of having achieved those expressions and degrees of love that leave one feeling satisfied.
Lovegoodness is meant to remind us to reach for and emanate the expressions of love that fills, renews and inspires us most.
Lovegoodness IS any of those expressions of love that leave you feeling more like you.
We are diverse and we have diverse expressions, and yet, we live in a world that constantly dictates the terms of what love is allowed to look like, sanctioning narrow channels with major consequences if you stray. Many of us struggle to even KNOW what our own Lovegoodness is, let alone where/how to find it.
Fight back! Take a moment and say to yourself, “Lovegoodness is…” Finish the statement with your first thought. Say the statement repeatedly, finishing the statement with your first thought each time. Try doing this for 3-5 minutes, breathing deeply and wholly, letting your PIES energies bring forth your answers. And then...go and create it!
Celebrate your Lovegoodness.
Holiday/Winter 2020/2021 Soap Series
Soap-Coping in COVID
We have learned SO much about ourselves during the COVID pandemic. We’ve pushed the edges of our resilience, sometimes almost falling over the edge, but mostly not. We’ve grown new edges of resilience and can now do things and think about things that we couldn’t do or think about before. We have learned so much.
This soap series is focused on the ways we can cope during the holiday season and throughout the winter, in what I am intending is the last showdown of this mass pandemic. For many of us, we have coped with the limitations and anxieties of this pandemic by eating, sometimes to feel less, sometimes to not feel at all. I ain’t mad atcha. What I hope happens with this soap series is that we can lean a little more into feeling and healing than most of us have been taught to do. We live in societies that tell us that emotions and vulnerability are weaknesses to erase or lie about. As we have spent the last 9 months reaching the edges of our emotional boundaries, I hope more and more people are seeing the lie in this. We can face hard feelings and get to the other side. We can be vulnerable and low and behold! Rather than feel we’ve been made weaker, we feel stronger and often in more connection with others.
Rather than cope with food this holiday/winter season, cope with soap. All of this season's soaps are related to a food, snack or holiday experience. Not only can you eat apple crisp, but you can wash your hands or take a shower and SMELL like apple crisp!
