Dear Political Healers family,
What can we even say about this year!? We officially launched Political Healers as an organization in March -- just in time for the start of a global pandemic whose scale and trauma none of us could truly envision at the time. Through grief, isolation, anger, uprising, illness and disruption, we’ve built something beautiful together.
This #GivingTuesday, will you support Political Healers?
I can't imagine how I would have gotten through 2020 without Political Healers; in a very real way, what we do has been teaching me how to survive and even thrive during one of the worst periods of my life.
Together we:
Launched our summer Foundational Training Series, training 150 people in the core concepts of Political Healers
Conducted healing and trauma-informed practice sessions for a national team of 50 deep canvassers organizing in Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin
Hosted our Digital Issues Summit, where 90 organizers joined us to learn about injecting political healing into issue organizing
Brought political healing into the election with Remember in November including sending 10,000+ postcards, supporting and training teams to deep canvass and holding healing circles for more than 250 people with partners in Alabama, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and nationwide. Remember in November centers the needs and concerns of our communities by investing in and connecting with the voters typically ignored by conventional election outreach including young, newly-registered, BIPOC, and lower-income voters.
We believe that we are Political Healers not in spite of the things we've struggled through this year, but because of them: because we have had to learn resilience and healing, collectivity, and creative problem-solving as women and men of color, queer folks, and people from poor and working-class backgrounds who have faced economic instability throughout our lives. We know in our core that this is the work we need to birth a world where we can thrive.
Can you help us continue to grow? Support our work and invite others to join Political Healers!
It hasn’t been easy, but we know Political Healers launched at the exact right moment - providing essential leadership to reshape how we organize for the future we need and deserve.
We are off to a great start -- but now we need your help.
